Fiona faced inefficiencies in workflow, inconsistent use of design elements, and lacked measureable outcomes. These challenges slowed delivery, created inconsistencies across products, and limited scalability.
A DesignOps approach was needed to optimize processes, improve collaboration, and ensure consistent, high-quality design output.
Conducted internal audits of workflows, design system adoption, and cross-team collaboration to understand pain points and inefficiencies.
Gathered input from design, product, and engineering teams to identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and opportunities for operational improvement. Supplemented insights with industry best practices in DesignOps, including process standardization, tooling, governance, and metrics-driven oversight.
I cleaned up the Jira Design Board backlog to have a better view which design tasks needed attention and which could be 'sunset'. Next, I established documentation standards so design rationale was accessible to all stakeholders.
Next, with the help of the design & engineering teams we reshaped component library, scoping and updating components, ensuring technical acceptance criteria.
What I'm most proud of, I convinced the teams to conduct retrospectives to capture lessons learned and refine workflows for future sprints.
